Jonathan Sells is a professional stone carver and mason who works from his studio at Corfe Castle, Dorset, where he happily undertakes hand carved stonework commissions including fireplaces, garden furniture, water features, birdbaths, functional artefacts for inside and out, wedding and birth gifts etc. Letter cutting and restoration work can also be carried out.

Jonathan has taught Stone carving and Sculpture for many years at various schools and a variety of venues and has worked with a cross section of the community of varying ages and abilities.

He will happily take you through a journey of discovery that will surprise you. He will introduce you to stone and how to work it including tool use and relief carving. He will touch on stone masonry and sculpture as you go along, gradually improving your skills and abilities.

Once you have had a few lessons you can ask Jonathan to help you to create whatever you are interested in carving and he will guide you through it. Many people who do this course carry on stone carving, it’s rather moreish!
